Bob’s Bit for August 2024

"Are you ready? It won't be long now."

STEEP Management is excited to share that STEEP has launched a new website on August 13th. A huge THANK YOU to Team Sarahs, Sarah Wojcik, and Sarah Borodaeff for their creative work and guidance in creating the new site.

August is a transitional month as new budgets kick in and the execution of plans for the upcoming season takes shape. In approximately 59 days, places like Killington, A-basin, Keystone, and others will turn on snow guns to start the 2024/2025 ski season.  The season is coming. For me, the fall was always an exciting time of year. You look forward to bringing your plans to fruition. Back then, you kicked off your season pass sales with the sales team heading out to the surrounding colleges and universities as students returned to campus. Technology has changed all that as seasons pass sales are mainly an e-commerce activity. The return of full-time, seasonal staff, and the hiring process of season staff have changed, too. Oh well, I still find fall an exciting season in a mountain community – the anticipation of snow, when and how much is on people’s minds, and the topic of conversation.

This issue of the STEEP Newsletter has an article from the Unofficial Network about the AURO Ropeways system with a few probing questions from me, but I do see it as the future path. I also want to share an article from strategy & business relating to my post last month, Elevating Leadership Dynamics in Ski Resorts: Fostering Unity and Organizational Health. The article relates to one of the six questions, namely the fifth question: What is most important right now?

The fall brings the regional ski association shows. STEEP will attend the NE Summit in September, which is back at Sunday River. Hope to see you there.
