LiftShack, the dispatch and incident management system offered by Steep Management, LLC is set to undergo an update and the current version will no longer be marketed. Mountain Insights, LLC, the developer of LiftShack, and Steep Management have from the very beginning wanted LiftShack to function as a meaningful mountain and patrol dispatch system and incident management system being easy to use and as a complete package, no add on features that add cost. The current version meets most of these parameters but falls short in a few of the detail functions. Mountain Insights, LLC wants these features to be there and does not want the product marketed without being able to demonstrate the optimum functionality. A lot has been learned from talking with prospective clients, and we thank you for your input and suggestions, which will enable LiftShack to be a much better product in the future. As you know there is a lot of competition in this market, this is not a reaction to our competitors more a desire to provide the product that we hear is needed to serve these functions: mountain and patrol dispatch and incident management. Steep Management strongly believes in the need for leadership training in the ski industry and recognizes the challenge of providing that training from a time perspective and a cost perspective. The Leadership Chair to the Top online course offered by Steep was a test to see if there was a viable market for an online course at a low cost that would be the introduction to leadership training. The results have proven that there isn’t a market or the course offered did not fill the market needs. We don’t know. We do know that there has been sparse interest so the course is being pulled.
Steep Management will continue to explore avenues that can address the leadership training for front line and middle managers in mountain operations and other areas within the ski area management circles.
